Pongal Book Fair from January 13
Fair is being organised as a tribute to people affected adversely by the recent floods.
Chennai: In view of Chennai Book Fair postponed to later next year, Chennai Pongal Book Fair will be held in January 2016. Members of Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) will be organising the fair from January 13 to January 24, 2016, at YMCA Grounds, Nandanam.
The fair is being organised as a tribute to people affected adversely by the recent floods. Organisers said that there would be over 200 bookstalls with books of various categories. Also, there will be debates, poetry and discussions with various authors.
Writers, scholars, scientists and many famous personalities are expected to participate in the fair. For children, there will be separate stalls and events. The amount collected from the entry fee will be donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, to be utilized for helping people who lost their belonging to the flood. The entry fee for the event is Rs 5.
Admission is free to college and school students. There is a discount of 10 per cent being given on the books.
