TRS bags 4 MLC seats, Congress bags two
With all the 12 vacant seats now filled, the Telugu Desam no longer has a representative.
Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti once again stamped its supremacy on local politics, this time in the MLC elections by winning four of the six seats that went to poll. The main Opposition Congress won the other two.
The TRS has already won six MLC seats from North Telangana without contest. With Wednesday’s results, the party’s strength rose to 29 in the Legislative Council of 40. The Congress’ strength rose to eight, Independents two and BJP one.

With all the 12 vacant seats now filled, the Telugu Desam no longer has a representative in the Telangana state Council as its two candidates, in Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar, were defeated.
However, the MLC results do not reflect the mood of the general public as it had in the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll, since the electorate of these polls comprises elected representatives from local body constituencies like MPTCs, ZPTCs and municipality councillors.
