Bengaluru: A day after members from the Forum for Urban Governance and Commons expressed reservations about the TenderSURE roads, the funds spent and quality, a couple of corporators too questioned the same. During the council meeting on Thursday Opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy and Basavanagudi corporator Katte Satyanarayana jointly demanded a special meeting be convened to discuss the project.

Mr Reddy alleged that the project decisions had been taken by keeping the BBMP in the dark. Why is huge money being pumped into TenderSURE project? Earlier, BBMP had dropped various projects owing to 20-25 per cent cost escalation. But TenderSURE project was still on despite a cost escalation of 60-70 per cent, he claimed. Mr Satyanarayana asked why water was stagnating on TenderSURE road stretching between Chandrika hotel junction and Minugutare Kalpana junction and was riddled with potholes. He was worried about the condition of these roads during monsoon. Cutting across party lines, the corporators, including Jayamahal corporator M.K. Gunashekar, Ruling Party Leader R.S. Sathyanarayan, urged the Mayor to convene a special meeting to discuss TenderSURE.
