Notices to Telangana, TPSC on member

The judge granted time till January 29 to the respondents to spell out their stand.

HyderabadThe Hyderabad High Court has issued notices to the Telangana state government and the Telangana Public Service Commission seeking their response to a writ of quo warranto, challenging the eligibility of Banoth Chandravathi to hold the post of member of the  TPSC.
 
Justice Sanjay Kumar issued the notice while dealing with a plea by M. Balu, a resident of the city, contending that the member in question was not eligible to hold the position. 
 
Jonnalagadda Sudheer, counsel told the court that the member, who is a TRS activist, was facing certain criminal cases. He said as per the existing rules, persons occupying such high positions should have an impeccable track record and must inspire confidence among the public that he or she would function impartially. The judge granted time till January 29 to the respondents to spell out their stand.
