Jr NTR’s 2016 plan: Be visible

Reclusive actor is, all of a sudden, organising events and promo meets. Here’s why.

He could very well change that moniker to Under Pressure Star. One of the biggest box office clashes is fast approaching as Sankranti festival nears. All eyes are on only two films —  Balakrishna’s Dictator and his nephew Jr NTR’s Nannaku Prematho.

Following the open animosity between both camps, the younger actor is now desperate for some love from the city. In fact, the actor has organised his first ever ‘meet the press’ in years (to talk about his 25-film milestone), on Monday. And the change in mood is also because of the fact that the competition, of late, has become very media savvy. “Jr NTR never showed any interest to meet the media... that has changed. He has seen how others are aggressively promoting movies and has noticed that success now depends on publicity too — besides just star power,” claims a source.

Also, with actors such as Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun and others performing well at the box office in 2015, Jr NTR has found himself without a hit in years and in “total darkness”. This year is absolutely make or break!

The actor is also exposed to politics between AP and Telangana. Rival Balakrishna happens to be an integral part of the Telugu Desam and Jr NTR’s hoping his upcoming flick is not sabotaged in the neighbouring Telugu state.

Meanwhile, Balakrishna has wrapped up the shoot for Dictator — which he has announced will release on time for January 14. But Jr NTR’s film is far from complete — the shoot will go on till January 8, at least.
