Cancer patient uses Facebook to help women suffering from ovarian cancer
She got her left ovary, fallopian tube and 6lb tumour removed.
A woman suffering from ovarian cancer took Facebook as a mode to help women who are suffering from ovarian cancer.
The mother of two got her left ovary, fallopian tube and 6lb tumour removed, soon after the birth of her daughter.
Erin Barrett was lucky enough to remove the tumour at an early stage and got it cured. She is going through her chemotherapy and will be soon starting her radiation therapy in January. Erin Barrett wants women to be aware of ovarian cancer and to get it removed before the tumour increases and it becomes difficult to heal.
She calls the disease a silent killer because the symptoms are not known until it becomes too late to know about it. She adds that 1 in 58 women can get diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer:
- Persistent stomach pain
- Persistent bloating
- Finding it difficult to eat or feeling full quickly
- Needing to pee more often
- Back pain
- Changes to bowel habits (constipation or diarrhoea)
- Feeling tired all the time
