Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based startup Bulbul Apps, which develops apps for preschoolers emphasising localised content, announced that it raised money from crowd funding site Kickstarter. This will be used for its 'Tuk Tuk goes to Hyderabad' travel app for kids.

The Kickstarter project, which set a funding goal of $2,000, reached the target in 25 days. The funds will be used to pay writers, illustrators, animators, voiceover artists, musicians and towards app development, testing and listing, Bulbul Apps founder Prakash Dantuluri, said.

Tuk Tuk travel app for children is a smartphone and tablet app that helps a preschooler discover the city in a 'tuk tuk’ (autorickshaw) in a visually and interactive manner and user-designed story telling methodology to hold children’s attention. It launched 'Tuk Tuk goes to Mumbai’ a month ago and more cities would be included in the list in six months.

Bulbul Apps has stories in many categories- folk, mythology, Mowgli and Bulbul, Tuk Tuk travel series and others. It was building a library that was engrossing and child worthy. It had a collection of over 50 apps in its library, said Dantuluri. The company had earlier raised $2,50,000 in an angel round of funding.
