Not many people get a chance to act with the Superstar himself.

From being a tomboy who hated dressing up, to an elegant model and now actress, Sanjana Mohan has come a long way. “However, I always loved being in the spotlight even as a child,” says this youngster. After completing her schooling from C.S.I. Jessie Moses, she went on to study Visual Communication in college where she began liking the fashion industry. Interacting with models, designers and others from the fraternity made her develop an affinity for modelling and acting — thus her journey began.
“I started walking the ramp for choreographers and designers like Sunil Menon, Srini Subramanian and Dalu; in 2012 I went on to participate in the Miss South India pageant,” Sanjana says. When asked who she shares the best rapport with, she diplomatically answers, “I think fashion is more like cricket where you need a skilled batsman, bowler and fielders to put up a good match. Similarly, in my field, designer, fashion choreographers and models all play equal roles — we all work like a team so I can’t pick a favourite.”
Sanjana, who’s also a professional salsa and freestyle dancer, says she got her big break after winning Tamil Pesum Kadhanayagi — “This reality show was a stepping stone to success as I got the offer to act in films like Nerungi Va Muthamidadhey, Balaji Sakthivel’s Ra Ra Rajasekar and others.” But what really caught our attention was a picture on her social media page with Rajinikanth! Though the caption didn’t divulge much, we found out from the horse’s mouth.
“Yes, I’m acting with Superstar in one of his upcoming films. I’m absolutely thrilled to act with a legend like him — it’s certainly a dream come true!” she gushes. It seems to be a great start to the year as Sanjana also has Irudhi Suttru, named Saala Kadhoos in Hindi, in her kitty. “I play a small character role in the film, but frankly, I really wanted to do it because Madhavan was the hero! Much like every other girl, I too am a huge fan of Maddy! And a chance to work with him — why wouldn’t I accept it? (laughs).” I think we all agree with her on this one; smart move! She seems to have her hands full, but what else does she have lined up for the year? “I have never really planned anything all my life; things just fall into place. But I would like to concentrate more on modelling during the coming months,” she concludes.
