Nava Bharat thump St Peter’s

Nava Bharat XI thumped St Peter’s Academy 10-1 in an one-sided encounter at the Sports Authority of Telangana State Super Cup invitation hockey tournament organised by the District Sports Authority of Hyderabad at Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad.
Arvind opened the scoring for Nava Bharat XI with a splendid solo effort in the second minute of the match. Minutes later, he found the net once again to register his second goal as the scoreline read 2-0 in Nava Bharat’s favour.
Bhupender Pal Singh of St Peter’s Academy scored the lone goal for his side in the 18th minute to reduce the margin 2-1. Prakash Singh scored a brace in the 21st and 24th minutes as Nava Bharat went 4-1 up.
Against the run of play, Mahinder Kiran scored from a brilliant pass as the scoreline read 5-1 in Nava Bharat’s favour. It was A. Ganesh Singh’s time to make it count and he did not disappoint. He sounded the board in the 33rd and 34th minutes to take the match further away from a woeful St Peter’s Academy.
After the break, Nava Bharat’s Suresh Singh netted a goal in the 48th minute. Mahinder pocketed two more goals in consecutive minutes — 51st and 52nd — to register his hat-trick and drove the final nail in St Peter’s coffin.
Meanwhile, Ashok XI got the better of Gachibowli XI 5-2 in another one-sided affair.
