Bengaluru: Four-year-old girl ‘sexually assaulted’
The suspect was hired by the house owner in Kengeri to paint the house for new tenants.
BENGALURU: The Kengeri police have arrested a 38-year-old painter based on suspicion under Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act following a medico-legal case on Monday evening, when a mother of the 4-year-old girl rushed her to the hospital.
The suspect was hired by the house owner in Kengeri to paint the house for new tenants. It is believed that the girl was playing outside while her mother was busy inside. When the mother checked on her she noticed white paint on her legs. Fearing the worst, the mother raised an alarm and rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, which then informed the Kengeri police about a suspected POCSO case.
According to the Kengeri police, the family has so far refused to file a complaint. “A medico legal case was registered based on the mother’s statements to the hospital authorities. Doctors at the hospital are still not clear about whether the girl was sexually assaulted. There were paint marks on her legs, but not on her private parts. The girl does not seem distressed, but we are getting a counsellor to speak to her while waiting for the medical report,” police officials said.
Meanwhile, the police are trying to convince the parents to file a complaint, so that the matter can be taken up properly and the accused can be booked if it is actually found that he sexually abused the girl, police said.
