Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in a timber depot in Kothapet area Monday night after a domestic LPG cylinder kept in the depot’s storage room went off. Fire tenders rushed in and doused the fire. The  scene of the fire, Uday timber depot, is located on the Vijayawada  highway near White House function hall in LB Nagar.

The plot has four shutters facing the road, while a G+2 building is located at the back.

Its ground floor is used as the timber depot and the two floors above for residential purposes. Four families working   in the depot lived there with their families. Four fully-filled   domestic gas cylinders were kept in the storage area in the timber depot. One exploded and the fire from it led to the explosion of the  others too, further aggravating the situation.

The residents noticed fire from the store around 4am, ran out and alerted fire tenders. The fire was fully doused by 7am. There was no  casualty. The owner of the timber depot claimed to have suffered a   loss of Rs 30 lakh.
