Hyderabad: Minimum Time Scale (MTS) lecturers working in government colleges in 10 districts of the state are demanding that the TRS administration regularise their jobs when it takes up the contract jobs issue.

The lecturers were recruited prior to 1993, in the undivided state of AP. They have been working full time, like regular government lecturers, but are denied increments, and salaries for two months during the summer break every year.

Telangana Lecturers Forum president Kathi Venkataswamy pointed out that even the Pay Revision Panel had recommended that the government regularised MTS staff in view of them availing PRC scales.

“With many of them on the verge of retirement from service, it is high time the government regularised these lecturers on priority basis. Otherwise nobody will get retirement benefits like pension despite more than two decades of service,” he said.
