Kozhikode: The Njattuvela cultural forum against fascism and other social and cultural activists in Kozhikode staged a march on Wednesday against the police action on the Chumbana Theruvu (street of kiss) activists on the New Year's day. The police had attacked the protesters and arrested them following a clash with the activists of Hindu outfit Hanuman Sena.

The marchers asked the officials to stop their fascist approach and withdraw the case against mediaperson Aneeb who was arrested and jailed. According to the Njattuvela activists, he was innocent and was attacked for helping a handicapped person who was assaulted by a police official in mufti.

"We were seeking to build a defence against the rising fascism in the country, but were attacked," said Njattuvela secretary Sarath Babu. "We want justice from the police who attack the common man," he added.

The forum has decided to stage more protests in the city against fascism and demanding to release Aneeb.
