Chennai: Six arrested for college dropout murder

The cops traced all the six suspects involved in the murder.

Chennai: City police arrested six persons in connection with the murder of Presidency College dropout in a petty quarrel that broke out during New Year celebrations in Vyasarpadi.

The deceased who stopped going to college for the last three months had been working as a salesman at a bookshop in Purasawalkam.

The deceased Srinivasan had reportedly assaulted a local in Bakthavatchalam Colony after the latter picked up a petty quarrel with him while ushering in the New Year.

The local along with his aides ganged up against Srinivasan, but other elders in the locality intervened and ensured that the celebrations went on smooth. However, the gang intercepted Srinivasan on Power Line in Vyasarapadi and hacked him, on Tuesday. The injured Srinivasan was rushed to Government Stanley Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to the injuries later on Wednesday.

The hurt case which was registered by MKB Nagar was altered to murder case. The cops traced all the six suspects involved in the murder. The arrested were identified as - Devalingam, (23), Tamil Selvan, (21), Vishal, (23), Divakar, (24), Veera, (23), all residents of Bakthavatchalam Colony in Vyasarpadi and another Divakar, (23), resident of Karimedu near Vyasarpadi.
