Hyderabad: Telangana has made Intermediate education free in government colleges from 2016.

A government order was issued to this effect by higher education department on Thur-sday. The decision will be implemented in 402 government junior colleges, where close to 1.15 lakh students study.

Around 80 per cent of them belong to weaker sections. Currently, the government collects '893 from each student in the science stream and '533 from students pursuing humanities. The fee is later reimbursed. Proposals were put up before government to waive the fee since tuition fee was being reimbursed anyway. After consultations, the GO was issued on Thursday.
