Namitha Pramod has been busy with back-to-back projects in Mollywood for a while. John Varghese’s Adi Kapyare Kootamani was her last outing, which was well received in theatres. But the actress is now shifting her focus to new territories by trying her hand at the Telugu film industry.

Namitha, who is presently in Hyderabad for the shoot of her debut Telugu movie, says, “My debut Telugu movie is being directed by Veerabhadra Chaudari and has Telugu actor Aadi in the lead. I am paired opposite Aadi in the film and my character is a young, bubbly and energetic girl. It’s a fun movie. I have also signed another Telugu movie, Kathalo Rajakumari, to be directed by Mahesh Surapaneni. But it is still in its early stages and I’m not sure when the film will go on floors.”

Actress Shamilee was rumoured to have been chosen as the female lead for Kathalo Rajakumari initially, but the crew finally bagged Namitha for the role. The film will have Nara Rohith playing the male lead.

However, her new adventures are also offering her a lot of challenges. Being a newbie in the Telugu industry, Namitha says she is having a tough time working her way around the language. Though the actress had previously tried her hand at a new language in Lal Jose’s Vikramadityan, where she was required to speak Konkani, the actress says Telugu is very different.

“Telugu is poles apart from Malayalam and I have no understanding whatsoever of the language. Right now, I’m getting my dialogues translated to English so that I can understand what I’m saying. I’m also trying to pick up the right accent with the help of the assistants. But this will only be for the ease of getting the lip sync right. I will not be dubbing for the movie. There is just no way I can handle Telugu language by myself at this point,” she explains.
