Bengaluru student ‘molested’ by bus conductor
The victim has also accused the driver for supporting the conductor.
Bengaluru: A case of sexual harassment has been registered against a conductor of a private bus, who allegedly tried to touch a 23-year-old woman passenger inappropriately while she was travelling to the city from Goa. The incident is said to have happened on January 2, she said in her complaint.
The victim has also accused the driver for supporting the conductor when she objected for his misbehaviour and created ruckus during her journey. Based on the complaint the Upparpet police have registered case against the driver and the conductor of SRS travels.
The victim, who is a student of a city based college, stated in her complaint that while she was sleeping in her berth, the conductor touched her inappropriately. When she woke up, she found the conductor standing next to her. Upon objecting to his behaviour, he started arguing with her. She demanded the driver to stop the bus, but he continued driving.
The other passengers pacified the victim and asked her to lodge a police complaint. As soon as the bus reached Upparpet, the victim went to the police station and lodged a complaint.
A senior police officer said, “The incident has happened while the bus was approaching the city. We have taken up the case and also enquired with SRS Travels, who have provided the details about the conductor and the driver, who are currently absconding.”
