Too harsh? 'Bank of Dad' rejects six-year-old's pocket money application
'We have found you have insufficient funds, and a history of not doing your chores', says dad.
St. Louis: A St. Louis, Missouri man has stated an example of an ideal dad who introduced his six-year-old son to the harsh world of Finance. The man bluntly rejected his son’s pocket money request and in return penned down a rejection letter for him.
The letter read:
“We regret to inform you at this time that we are unable to provide a loan in the amount requested of $20.00," writes the father, on custom made 'Dad Savings and Loan' letter paper. "Because apparently I look like I'm made out of money," reads the company tag line on the letter head.
"After reviewing your account," continues the letter we have found you have insufficient funds, and a history of not doing your chores.
"Furthermore, over $80.00 has been spent on discretionary entertainment expenses since Christmas. This is an unsustainable amount of expenditure, and we cannot further compound the problem by financially assisting with occurring further debt at this point.”

The letter, that went viral, was posted on the online image sharing website ‘Imgur’ by the six-year-old’s mother. The online letter received a lot of comments from other parents who vowed to adopt the same policy for their children.
The father also dragged his wife in the matter by adding,
"If you would like to refute this decision, you can contact our complaint department at [the mother's mobile phone number]. Our dispute manager at this number may be able to persuade us to reverse our decision."
The letter also carries the sign of the father along with the sign-off sentence that reads:
“Thank you for choosing DAD Savings and Loan, we appreciate the chance to serve your financial needs”.
In a clever way, the father explained to his son about cutting down on extra expenses.
