No doubt, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was a celebrated superstar of Indian cinema and he also played an anger-driven role in his second Telugu film ‘Kalki 2989 AD’. “Unfortunately, Amitabh overpowering and defeating Prabhas was unwarranted,” says a source, who adds, “Everybody thought that this film would also be around Prabhas and his heroic acts but Amitabh leading from the front and dominating Prabhas for most of the film hasn’t go down well and it has dented excitement of fans and general audience too,” he adds.

Another producer claims that it should have been Prabhas-driven movie like ‘Salaar’ or ‘Baahubali’ but it wasn’t the case as Aswadhama(Big B) regains his power and becomes invincible. “Prabhas character doesn’t have a strong motive and turns secondary in the movie. He just goes through proceedings entertaining the audience with his jokes, while Amitabh was doing his job on the big screen,” he points out. While in Bollywood, Amitabh has been doing age-appropriate roles like ‘Piku’ and ‘Pink’ but in this movie he is an action hero and eclipses Prabhas machismo. “Fans expected Prabhas to take on the might of villains, rather sidelining him for most of the time, before he joins forces with Amitabh towards the end. By then, his legion of fans were disappointed in varied centres and small towns which we term as B&C centres in Telugu states,” he adds.

He also talks about Prabhas turning Karna but it didn’t pep up the mood of the audience. “Few goosebump moments as Prabhas takes the bow of Karna and turns into an unbeatable warrior and defeats the gadget-aided opponents and saves a pregnant woman, but it was too late and too little for the first part,” he concludes.
