Bengal Train Accident: PM Modi Expresses Grief, Announces Exgratia of Rs 2 lakh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the Kanchanjunga Express train accident which took place near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal
The Prime Minister said the railway accident is saddening and also conveyed his condolences. "The railway accident in West Bengal is saddening. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to officials and took stock of the situation. Rescue operations are underway to assist the affected. The Railways Minister Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw Ji is on the way to the site of the mishap as well, " PM Modi said.
PM Modi announced exgratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased in the railway accident and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
On Monday morning, a goods train rammed into Kanchanjunga express train killing 9 persons and injuring 46 others.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock over the incident, whereas Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called it an "Unfortunate accident".
