Sushant's workout and exercising capabilities should not be seen as a way to define fitness, experts say.
Celebrities these days share a lot about their lives on social media and fans always try to imitate their favourite stars — be it the way they dress or how they work out.
Recently, after Sushant Singh Rajput’s workout video went viral, several users claimed that they could do the same. But fitness experts give out a warning.
“What Sushant is doing in the video neither serves as a good chest work out nor as a gymnast, all it does is elevates the heart rate and serves as a good fat burner, but not a muscle builder. He has just combined it to make it as a fun move, and more visually appealing. For doing this, you need to be extremely strong and light-weight. Someone who is heavy, like John Abraham, cannot do it. For him to lift his entire body and put the weight on his wrist, will in turn end up hurting him,” says fitness coach Kunal Gir, who trains Rana Daggubati and Samantha among others.
He adds that fitness is often misunderstood. “People look at a particular workout and think that it is amazing. For you to try that workout, you have to be trained. Your body needs to be compatible with what you are doing. You might tell yourself that you can do it, but if you aren’t fit enough then you will end up injuring yourself. Don’t see Sushant’s workout as a way to define fitness. Tony Jaa does better gymnastic movements, in that way he is more fit than Sushant. You first need to define your fitness level and excel in that field. Don’t just blindly imitate what the stars are doing,” adds Kunal.
Celebrity fitness expert Kiran Dembla, who trains Tamannaah, adds, “Don’t try whatever you see your stars doing on TV or on social media, and not even those workout videos on YouTube. For everything, you need to start from scratch. You can’t ask a small child to directly start running, if he does he will end up injuring himself.
“Similarly, do not try to emulate what the stars are doing. Their fitness levels are much different than yours. You may not be giving as much priority to fitness as them, they make it part of their lifestyle.”
Kiran adds that in case you want to try, do it under expert supervision. “Always do it under expert supervision. If the instructor is professional, he will guide you through it. They would know if you are fit and flexible enough to do it. You can’t do the push-ups and then the jump if you are not fit or flexible enough to do it, the body will get injured. If you are already into fitness, you are wise enough to realise that you need to start from basics to reach that fitness level.”
