Exclusive: After 18 years Producer Kumar Taurani to remake 90's superhit 'Soldier'
Girish Taurani will reprise Bobby Deol's role in the film.
Mumbai: Producer Kumar Taurani, head honcho of TIPS films wants to remake Soldier, an Abbas-Mastan flick that was a blockbuster in the 90’s. The film featured Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta and the film also had great music composed by Anu Malik.
18 years later the producer has decided to remake the film again featuring his son Girish Kumar. The banner has made memorable movies in the past like Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Kachche Dhaage, Kya Kehna, Albela, The Legend of Bhagat Singh to name a few.
A source said, “ They are keen to remake one of the films from their archives. They have narrowed down on Soldier. It was a film that had great content and music. In fact Bobby Deol’s career reach new heights after the film and his chemistry with Preity was also loved by the masses. Back then it had all the ingredients of a blockbuster film.”
The film has a lot of recall value and the banner wants to remake it keeping in mind today’s taste and sensibility of the audience.
A source added, “ Right now it’s too early as Kumar Taurani has just started the discussion with his team. He needs to have a strong script and is on the look out for one. As far as Girish is concerned, he has all the traits of stepping in to the character of Bobby Deol. Girish has a strong presence on screen and a personality which will help him to pull off this film.”
When contacted Producer Kumar Taurani he simply said, “ Yes, I want to remake Solider but not until I find a good script.”
