Rishi Kapoor fills in for Irrfan Khan in Chalk n Duster
Not one to take up cameo roles, Rishi agreed to a request from Shabana Azmi.
For the first time in his career, Rishi Kapoor will play himself onscreen for director Jayant Gilatar’s Chalk n Duster, which addresses the loopholes in our education system. The actor will play a quiz show host as Rishi Kapoor, the actor. Rishi stepped in for Irrfan Khan at the behest of Shabana Azmi.
The two were co-stars in a film titled Rahi Badal Gaye and have been friends ever since.
Says Rishi, “Apart from being my co-star Shabana and Javed saab (who has written the lyrics for the film) have been my friends for years. I normally shy away from guest appearances but I agreed because of them. I don’t know how my appearance has shaped up. I was told it would form the film’s climax.”
Chalk n Duster is one of the three films that’ll see Rishi in the first quarter of 2016. The other films include Divya Khosla Kumar’s Sanam Re and Shakun Batra’s Kapoor & Sons — both of which show him 25 years younger than his real age.
After playing a quiz show host in Chalk n Duster, Rishi is considering the offer to play a game show host on television as well. Let’s see where that goes.
