Former Miss World Diana Hayden gives birth from egg frozen for 8 years
She was 32 when she decided to freeze her eggs.
Mumbai: Former Miss World Diana Hayden gave birth to a baby girl born out of an egg she froze eight years ago. The 42-year old gave birth at the Surya Mother and Child hospital in Santacruz on Saturday.
Reportedly, she decided to freeze her eggs after reading about the procedure in 2006. She froze 16 eggs between the October 2007 and March 2008. It is a highly controversial subject as several studies reveal that the process of freezing and thawing could damage eggs and reduce a woman's chance of becoming a mother.
When Diana married American Collin Dick two years ago, she learned she had endometriosis- a condition resulting from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the womb, making it difficult for women to produce quality eggs. That is when the couple decided to attempt a test-tube baby and thaw Diana’s eggs.
