Sunny says she hopes to move towards a serious†zone with her next few movies.

“I never thought I would be able to make it up to Bollywood,” says Sunny Leone, who is now starring in her first double- role with the upcoming Mastizaade.

“I liked the idea of doing this double role; it was fun playing two different characters,” Sunny says, adding, “Lily is a little clumsy, dorky, conservative and even stutters. She has many of my traits. Laila, on the other hand, is a sexy woman, who is a bombshell. She is provocative. It was more difficult to turn into Laila than Lily because you can be dorky, but switching to someone who is as poise as Lily is tough.”

Will we see Sunny preferring sensitive roles to sexy ones from now? “For sensitive roles, preparation is the key. You need to draw experiences from real life; crying instances help you refresh real incidents from your past and then perform the rona-dhona scenes well.”

However, Sunny doesn’t think that she can alter perceptions about her. “Each movie brings something different. For instance, Leela, for me, was quite different; I got more from that movie than anyone else. My next two movies are in that space. They’re more into the serious zone than the sexy zone. Over the next year, I am going to find out whether people like me in that zone or like this.”

She is happy to have shed the “outsider” tag. “I saw a shift, especially over the last six months. I still get excited when a celebrity writes to me back on Twitter.”

Sunny also thinks that it’s important to impart sex education at schools. “It is uncomfortable for parents to talk about sex to their kids. Even in the US they don’t want sex education to be imparted. I’m not a parent, but if I were I’d want to know that my child is safe and taking the right decisions. It’s important to have that kind of a discussion; enough courage is needed to talk to your child about sex.”

And how does she define “sexy”? “As far as a woman is concerned, being sexy is all about confidence. No matter whether you’re size zero or size 12, whether you are tall or short, sexy is something that comes from your own confidence as a woman. If you see someone wear a short miniskirt at the night club, it does not mean that you too need to wear it. You could be covered from head to toe and still be sexy!”

It’s the beginning of a new year and Sunny is hoping for the best in 2016. She says, “2015 was nonetheless a good year for me while I saw a lot of ups and downs, which helped me grow strong. With Maastizade, 2016 begins on a good note. Let’s hope for the best for the rest of the year!" a radiant Sunny signs off.
