170 movies to be screened at Bengaluru International Film Fest

The film festival will be inaugurated by renowned actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan.

Bengaluru and Mysuru will jointly host the International Film Festival from January 28 to February 4.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru and Mysuru will jointly host the International Film Festival from January 28 to February 4.  

After chairing a meeting with Kannada film personalities here on Monday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the film festival will be inaugurated by renowned actress and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Dada Saheb Phalke award winner Gulzar and others will take part in the mega event, he said.

Nearly 2,000 national and international film personalities will take part in the festival, which will have representation from over 50 countries. 172 Kannada, national and international films will be screened in the seven-day festival. Over 12,000 people can enjoy the festival in Bengaluru and Mysuru, he said.

In Bengaluru, films will be screened at Orion Mall on 12 screens at a time. In Mysuru, films will be screened at Mall of Mysuru near Race Course Road.
The festival will be inaugurated at the East Gate of Vidhana Soudha and the valedictory will be held in front of Mysuru Palace, he said.

During inauguration, Thithi, directed by Mr Rama Reddy, grandson of former Chief Minister K.C. Reddy, will be screened at the East Gate of Vidhana Soudha, he said.
