Ford Figo and Aspire to get touchscreens in 2018
The touchscreen is likely to be introduced with the facelift of the cars, which are expected in 2018.
Touchscreen infotainment system is fast becoming the norm in the premium hatchback and compact sedan segment. Not to be left behind, Ford has begun development of a similar unit for the Figo hatchback and its sedan sibling, the Aspire. The touchscreen is likely to be introduced with the facelift of the cars, which are expected in 2018. It is only the Ford Endeavour that features a touchscreen audio system as of now.
Equipping the Figo and the Aspire with a touchscreen would mean redesigning the dashboard. This might be why Ford wants to wait until the facelift to reveal the same. The current models come equipped with SYNC and AppLink. The SYNC system lets you pair your smartphone to make calls, use text-to-speech technology, and play music by using voice commands. In the event of an accident, the system will automatically call emergency services and share your GPS location. The AppLink system allows you to access apps on your paired smartphone by voice commands.
Competing with the Figo Aspire, the Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest have a touchscreen infotainment system on offer. On the other hand, the Tata Bolt which competes with the Figo also offers a touchscreen infotainment unit. Seeing how the trend is picking up, soon most of the cars will come equipped with one.
