Audi India will be recalling around 36,500 vehicles to fix the cars that have been affected by the diesel gate emissions scandal. Fixing the plagued EA189 diesel engines will entail a software update for the 2.0-litre diesel unit used in Audi models. While an official confirmation from the company hasn’t come through, we can expect a service camp to begin soon.

Last year in December Volkswagen Group India had announced that it will recall nearly 3.24 lakh vehicles in the country, manufactured between 2008 to 2015 (till end of November). Approximately 198,500 cars from Volkswagen, 88,700 cars from Skoda and 36,500 cars from Audi are equipped with the EA 189 engines which include a 1.2-litre, a 1.5-litre, a 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre diesel. Moreover, the 2.0-litre engines will get a software update. In the 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre engines, a ‘flow transformer’ will be fitted in front of the air mass sensor.
