Skoda rolls out Kushaq Matte SUV at Rs 16.19 lakh

The Kushaq Matte edition competes with other SUVs like Volkswagen Taigun, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, the Maruti Grand Vitara.

PUNE: Skoda, the Czech automaker, which boasts of a 5-star-safe, crash-tested cars, on Monday introduced a limited-edition version of the Kushaq SUV called the Matte edition with the starting price of Rs 16.19 lakh at pan India showroom.

The Kushaq Matte edition commands a premium of Rs 40,000 over the Style trim.

The Kushaq Matte edition competes with other SUVs like Volkswagen Taigun, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Honda Elevate.

The Kushaq Matte edition, limited to just 500 units, has been positioned between the flagship Style and the niche Monte Carlo variants in the Kushaq line-up.

The SUV is powered by the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engines, and the manual and automatic gearbox options with each engine are available.

The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine produces 113 BHP and 178 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, while the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit packs 148 BHP and 250 Nm and is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.

“The Kushaq will soon be completing two successful years in the market. We have been constantly making updates and adding value to the car based on customer feedback. The Matte edition is the latest in this endeavour where we are offering an enhanced, matte aesthetic for discerning customers, along with distinct styling enhancements,” said Petr Solc, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India.

The Kushaq Matte edition has carbon steel exterior finish with glossy black elements and chrome trim. Its features include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 6-speaker sound system, among others.
