Hyundai has officially unveiled the 2017 Hyundai Verna at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. The sedan will be put on sale for the Chinese market before it hits the Indian market. The new generation Verna was previewed as a concept at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show back in April.
Based on the Fluidic sculpture 2.0 design language of the Hyundai, the Verna shares design traits with the Elantra, while it also stays close to its concept debut model. The new generation Hyundai Verna will be 4,380 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,460 mm high with a 2,600 mm wheelbase to offer some extra space and comfort in the interiors.
As the Hyundai has been doing of late, the Korean carmaker does get aggressive with the front styling with a large hexagonal grille, sweptback projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights, foglamps, sloping hood and windshield, large and beautiful petaled alloys, etc.
The interiors are likely to get a dual-tone treatment for the India-spec model, while the China-spec counterpart gets an all-black treatment. Inside the cabin, the 8-inch touchscreen AVN infotainment system will take care of all the Audio/Video and navigation functions. There are also HVAC and automatic climate control features.
Hyundai offers the new generation Verna with 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engine options in China, which develop 100 and 123 hp respectively, while the India-spec model would comprise of a 1.4 and 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engines. Upon launch, the 2017 Hyundai Verna will take on the rivals Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the Maruti Ciaz.
