Pune: With demand rising for its flagship model in the fiercely competitive car market in the country, Skoda Auto on Thursday introduced its updated flagship SUV Kodiaq 4x4 at a starting price of Rs 37.99 lakh at pan India showroom.

The top end luxury Laurin & Klement variant costs Rs 41.39 lakh.

To cater to the demand, the parent company has now allotted 750 Kodiaq units for every quarter for the Indian market.

The popular Kodiaq model was first introduced in India in 2017, and globally.

The 7-seater luxury SUV is powered by the powerful, yet efficient 2.0 TSI EVO engine coupled with 7-speed DSG transmission and it is now compliant with BS6-B emission norms.

The company has claimed that updates have increased the engine efficiency by 4.2 per cent than earlier and the new additions to the car include door edge protector, finlets for rear spoiler, and the lounge step in the cabin.

“The Kodiaq was our first ever foray into the full-size SUV fold, and it has been a resounding success internationally and in India,” said Petr Solc, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India.

He said though premium, it is a high value luxury 4x4 that has seen much demand from Indian consumers because of the complete off-road luxury package it offers for the family.

“The increased allocation will ensure that the Kodiaq can now be enjoyed by more SUV customers who demand the best there is in terms of safety, luxury and value with off-road ability,” Solc noted.

The Kodiaq is equipped with 9 airbags as standard. The 4x4 also includes adaptive front LED headlights, automatic dimming and defogging across all transparent surfaces, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic brake assist, stability control, multi-collision braking and park assist with handsfree parking among others.

In addition, the flagship L&K variant packs in a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a 360-degree camera as standard.
