Honda BR-V Launched in India at Rs 8.75 lakh

Honda has finally launched the much-awaited all-new BR-V at a starting price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the new product, Honda has marked its entry in the highly competitive compact SUV segment. The BR-V is based on the same platform as the Brio hatchback, Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV. The crossover SUV will face direct competition from the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and the likes.

Looks

The BR-V is an SUV, with hints in the overall design that are like the Mobilio. The bold grille and the unique connected taillight design makes it look aggressive. The crossover SUV has black body cladding and roof-rails to accentuate the SUV-look. Its gets 16-inch alloy wheels that are similar to ones on the Mobilio RS. The BR-V gets projector headlamps with LED light-guides, faux skid plates and wrap around tail lights with a large reflector. All of these work well to make the BR-V look appealing.

Interiors

On the inside, the BR-V borrows some parts from the recently updated Amaze. The all-black layout imparts a sporty touch, complemented by dull silver accents and the piano-black garnish for the centre console. Interior space is the main selling point of the BR-V since it is the only 7-seater vehicle in the segment to offer front facing third row. Feature-wise, the crossover SUV is equipped with keyless entry and a push button start/stop system. However, the BR-V misses out on rear parking sensors and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Drive

The BR-V comes with its tried and tested 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine that also perform duty in the City sedan and Mobilio MPV. The i-VTEC petrol engine produces 119PS of power and 145Nm of torque and is mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox as well as CVT auto-box. The manufacturer claims a mileage of 15.4kmpl for the manual, while the petrol automatic manages 16 kmpl. The i-DTEC diesel motor on the other hand, develops 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Company figures claim the diesel variant to return mileageof 21.9 kmpl.

The Honda BR-V is a good proposition for someone who wants a genuine 7-seater in their garage,backed by the reliability of the Honda brand. When compared to the segment winner Hyundai Creta, the BR-V misses out on the extra airbags, reverse parking sensors, rear camera, a touchscreen infotainment system etc. Bookings for the Honda BR-V have already begun.  Honda BR-V variant wise pricing is as follows:
