Tata Tiago AMT introduced at Rs 5.39 Lakh
It costs Rs 40,000 more than the equivalent petrol-powered manual Tiago XZ
Tata Motors has finally introduced the automatic variant of its popular hatchback, the Tiago. The automatic hatchback, Tata Tiago AMT, is priced at Rs 5.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and is only available with the petrol engine in the top-spec XZA trim. It costs Rs 40,000 more than the equivalent petrol-powered manual Tiago XZ and is being sold through Tata's 597 outlets across the country.
Currently, the petrol-powered Tiago XZ trim costs Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and for buying an AMT version you need to spend Rs 40k more.
The Tiago AMT comes with two drive modes – Sports and City. While the Sports mode ups the performance of the Tiago, the City one helps you sneak through the city traffic with ease. Additionally, for bumper to bumper traffic, it gets a ‘creep’ function, which assists the car to crawl as soon as you lift your foot from the brake pedal, without pressing the accelerator. In an inclined position, this feature prevents the car from rolling back too.
The looks remain more or less same as the stock Tiago. That said, it continues to sport a flashy style, spacious interiors, top notch quality material, driving modes, and decently powered petrol motor. For the uninitiated, the engine is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron mill designed indigenously by Tata Motors. The only difference will be an ‘AMT’ badging at the rear.
The Tiago AMT will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
