UM motorcycle seeks entry into the Indian scooter market

UM motorcycle is a renowned American brand but this name is not familiar among Indian motorcycle lovers.

A plethora of studies in June 2016 has claimed that the Scooters have captured near about 30 percent share of the Indian two-wheeler market. UM motorcycle is trying to establish their name in the Indian market. UM motorcycle is a renowned American brand but this name is not familiar among Indian motorcycle lovers.

As per the CEO of UM Lohia Two wheeler company, Mr Rajeev Mishra’s statement the UM motorcycle is planning to hit the Indian market by 2019. Basically, right now UM Motorcycles has three scooter models – Flash (110cc), Powermax (125cc) and Matrix (150cc) in its portfolio.

UM Motorcycles’s products were first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. So, now the company is planning to launch a 200cc and then a 400cc motorcycle before finalising the 280cc-engined Renegade range. So, UM motorcycles now planning to deliver its products by the end of this month as they already got 3,500 booking units. Among these, 600 bookings were done during the first week of launch.

With this positive outlook and strong economic growth of India, the company is considering India as one of their potential markets and in coming few years, they are planning to become a strong competitor to all other premium motorcycle brands in India.

The UM motorcycle has started a joint venture with Lohia Auto so that they can rapidly conquer the Indian market. Now, they have a plant in Kashipur, Uttarakhand which can produce near about 50,000 units and this amount is certainly more than a third of UM Motorcycles global sales in 2015.

It is also true that neighbour countries like Bangladesh and Thailand will also join the company global manufacturing network by October this year. So, altogether UM motorcycles now have seven plants throughout the world.

By seeing the zealous of Indian motorcycle lovers the company is planning to hold its position as one of the premium motorcycle brands in India.
