New Tata Harrier, Safari facelift SUVs launched to woo festive buyers

The automatic version of the Harrier starts at Rs 19.99 lakh and the Safari automatic at Rs 20.69 lakh

Pune: Tata Motors, India’s biggest automaker by revenues, on Tuesday introduced its refreshed flagship SUVs Safari and Harrier with a starting price of Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh at Mumbai showroom respectively.

The automatic version of the Harrier starts at Rs 19.99 lakh and the Safari automatic at Rs 20.69 lakh.

Both Harrier and Safari, which get a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, feature significant exterior and interior new look, attractive updates along with a host of feature additions.

Both the SUVs compete with the likes of Mahindra Scorpio-N, XUV700, MG Hector & Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, among other similarly priced SUVs in the market.

With a sporty design Tata Safari and Tata Harrier feature dynamism. Upfront both models sport a parametric grille with a persona-based identity giving the SUVs a premium look.

These vehicles also feature a full-width LED DRL at the top along with bumper-mounted jewelled design LED headlamps.

Additionally, the large air intake at the bottom along with a prominent skid plate completes the front look of the SUVs.

Both the new Safari and Harrier facelifts are now also equipped with a new electric power steering which should result in a lighter and easier steering operation.

Also, both the SUVs continue to be offered with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 168 hp power and 350 Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox with standard front-wheel drive.

Both the SUVs come with three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport along with three terrain response modes – Normal, Rough and Wet on select variants.
