Final edition of Thar launched
The first generation vehicle is christened Mahindra Thar 700 since only 700 units of this model will be built and sold in the country.
Pune: Mahindra, India's biggest utility vehicle maker, has introduced the final commemorative edition of the Mahindra Thar SUV special edition priced at Rs 9.99 lakh at Delhi showroom.
The first generation vehicle is christened Mahindra Thar 700 since only 700 units of this model will be built and sold in the country. The Mumbai-based auto major will introduce the second-generation Thar in the country in 2020 with a BS - VI emission norm compliant engine.
Powering Mahindra Thar 700 is the 2.5-litre CRDe engine that produces 105 bhp and 247 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Thar 700 costs Rs 50,000 more than the standard Thar CRDe 4-wheel-drive, which is priced at Rs 9.49 lakh.
"We are delighted to introduce the last 700 units of our iconic off-roader, Thar, in its current avatar," Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division at Mahindra & Mahindra, said.
He said that the enthusiasts would see it as their last chance to own a piece of this Mahindra legacy, as a must-have garage collectable.
"The Thar is clearly an extension of our 70 years legacy and what brand Mahindra stands for. Over the years, it has successfully shaped the lifestyle vehicle segment while being popular with the off-road tribe," Nakra boasted.
The Mahindra Thar 700, which marks the 70 years legacy of Mahindra, comes only in two exterior paint shade options such as Napoli black and Aqua Marine (similar to the one seen on the Marazzo).
