How to book an Uber cab without an app
Uber has introduced two new features allowing customers to book a cab without logging into the app.
Taxi aggregator and ride-hailing service Uber has announced the launch of two new features—‘Dial an Uber’ and ‘Request a Ride for Others’, for Indian commuters. The move allows commuters to book an Uber cab without even installing the app.
With the ‘Dial an Uber’ feature, customers can book a ride through Uber’s mobile website, dial.uber.com, by simply logging or registering their phone number for authentication.
The second feature ‘Request a Ride for Others’ will let Uber customers to book a cab for someone else. In case the cab is booked for someone else, Uber app will allow customer to share the rider’s phone number and location with the driver. In the meanwhile the rider will get the driver’s phone number via a text message.
However, both the services have been currently rolled out in selective cities in the India, which include Nagpur, Kochi, Guwahati and Jodhpur.
In a statement to the Mint, Apurva Dalal, head of engineering, Uber India said, “We are excited to launch Dial an Uber and Request a Ride for Others for riders in India. Designed to offer simple and more convenient ways to book a ride, these India-first innovations are testament to Uber’s focus on using its technological prowess to make mobility reliable and accessible for everyone.”
