2018 Renault Kwid old vs new: major differences
The prices of each variant of the 2018 Renault Kwid remain exactly the same as their earlier versions (Rs 2.72 lakh 4.69 lakh).
Renault has launched the 2018 Kwid with some updates in India. The prices of each variant of the 2018 Renault Kwid remain exactly the same as their earlier versions (Rs 2.72 lakh – 4.69 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi). But the carmaker has added some new features to make the Kwid more value for money than before. Let’s see what all has changed (and what has not) in the updated Kwid.
What’s new?
-
Renault has added a standard emergency locking retractor (ELR) for the rear seatbelts. This prevents passengers from lunging forward in case of sudden braking
-
The RXL variant gets front power windows, remote central locking, fog lamps and full wheel covers
-
The mid variant -- RXT (O) -- gets chrome on the front grille and the gear knob. It also gets a 12V socket for the rear passengers and a rear parking camera
-
The Kwid Climber now gets a rear armrest
-
The AMT transmission in all the respective variants now gets a creep feature (which Renault calls Traffic Assist). This means you do not need to feather the accelerator to get the car going from standstill, an extremely useful feature in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Its rivals, the Datsun redi-GO, Maruti Alto K10 and the Tata Tiago, already have this feature incorporated in their AMTs.
What’s unchanged?
-
The 2018 Renault Kwid does not feature any cosmetic changes apart from the chrome ornament for the front grille in the RXT(O) variant.
-
The interior, too, remains the same
-
Powering the Kwid are the same set of engines – the 0.8-litre and the 1.0-litre petrol motors - as that of its earlier version. Transmission options too remain intact – a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT.
With the prices remaining the same, the value proportion of the Renault Kwid has certainly gone up thanks to the new features that Renault has added. To know about offers on its existing and new stock, don’t forget to hit ‘View August Offers’ on this page.
