The Renault hasn't yet made any official announcement on the launch of the Megane in India, the sedan is expected to hit the Indian roads late this year.

Expected to replace the outgoing Fluence sedan in India, the Renault Megane C-segment sedan has been spotted testing without any camouflage. In summary, the fourth generation Megane hatchback debuted in the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Subsequently, a station wagon model was introduced in March 2016 and finally the sedan saw its debut in July 2016.

The Megane shares the CMF (Common Module Family) C/D architecture of the Renault Nissan alliance. The platform brings rival-challenging styles onto the sedan with a gritty front-grille, bold front cluster with the logo, air-dams, headlamps and foglamps, etc. The hood has multiple lines while the A-pillar is curvy and stylish. The rear profile also looks sophisticated with the roof sloping to seamlessly join the windshield.

With the new structure, the sedan is bound to get more roomy, especially in the rear. The digital features go as the R-Link 2 infotainment system with the large 8.7-inch I-surface multimedia display, 7-inch TFT digital counter, etc. Emergency Braking, Easy Park Assist, Lane Departure Warning, etc. are some special higher-end equipment in the Megane.

As many as variants may be offered with two of them getting powered by a petrol engine and three of them by a diesel mill. The petrol-powered engine SCe 115 will get mated either to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT, while the TCe 130 will get mated to a dual-clutch EDC 7-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.

On the other hand, the diesel mill will be a dCi 90, which will get a 6-speed manual transmission. The other two diesel motors will be a dCi 110 mated to options of either a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch EDC6 automatic and dCi 130 will get mated to a 6-speed manual.

It’s not sure whether the Megane will be home made but it is likely to be manufactured at the Renault’s plant in Bursa, Turkey and be sold in about 20 European, African and Asian countries. When launched, the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and the Honda Civic will be segment contenders for the Renault Megane sedan.

Though the Renault hasn’t yet made any official announcement on the launch of the Megane in India, the sedan is expected to hit the Indian roads late this year.
