Tata Harrier interior spied: gets gloating touchscreen as seen in H5X concept
The Harrier's dashboard layout is pretty similar to the H5X concept just like its exterior
The interior of what seems to be the top-spec Tata Harrier test mule has recently been spied revealing its fully loaded cabin. The spy shot confirms that the overall layout of the Harrier's interiors will be similar to its concept, the H5X, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Expectedly, it is not as fancy as the H5X concept, but having retained the layout of the concept, its cabin does look premium and modern. It gets an all-black layout with silver highlights, unlike the H5X’ wood inlays. What is strikingly similar to the H5X though, is the floating infotainment system, which is horizontally placed like the Nexon and JLR models. The H5X concept had a large, combined Mercedes-Benz-like standalone instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The Harrier, however, will have a regular analogue instrument cluster. More on this here.
The infotainment system appears to be significantly bigger than Nexon’s 6.5-inch unit. It could be a 10-inch unit like the ones seen on Jaguar and Land Rover cars. A bigger screen would be a welcome addition, but what will really matter is the units intuitiveness, especially the touch sensitivity. The Nexon’s 6.5-inch unit is by no means the best out there because it lags (particularly on touch) and there’s glare too. The range-topping versions of the Harrier might get Harman’s JBL range of speakers, like the current Tata flagship, the Hexa. It could be a 10-speaker setup.
The Tata Harrier is slated to be launched before April 2019, while the market introduction of the production-spec model could happen later this year.
