Adding to earlier reports that Bajaj Auto's VS400 would be launched in November, we now hear that the bike will have a different name and will not join the Pulsar line-up. It is likely that the bike will be launched under a new brand name, Kratos, and will be named the Bajaj Kratos VS400. With the upcoming bike, Bajaj will enter a new segment (tourer) which has been ruled by Royal Enfield in India.

Kratos is a Greek word that means the God of strength and Bajaj is going to position this new premium range above its existing flagship Pulsar brand. That means, the bike introduced under this new brand will cost more than any of the existing Bajaj products. MD of the company, Rajiv Bajaj, himself confirmed to launch the VS400 in November, 2016, but the launch date is yet to be announced.

The Bajaj Kratos VS400 was first introduced as the Pulsar CS400 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. However, a couple of months ago, reports surfaced claiming that the bike will be launched as the Pulsar VS400. Now, new speculations claim a completely different name for the production model.

Based on a new platform, the bike gets a KTM 390 inspired 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. However, the motor will be tuned for a relaxed performance as per the requirements of a cruiser and will deliver 35.49PS of power. Other features of the bike will include beefy, telescopic forks at the front, rear Nitrox monoshock, full LED headlamp, dual LCD digital instrument cluster, wide tyres, large-diameter front and rear disc brakes and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

The Bajaj Kratos VS400 is expected to be priced around the Rs 1.8 Lakh mark. Along with the Royal Enfield range of motorcycles, it will also challenge the other touring motorcycles like the Mahindra Mojo.
