Bajaj Auto to launch V12 at Rs 56,200
The Bajaj V12 will compete in the premium 125cc motorcycle segment.
Bajaj Auto is introducing a new 125cc motorcycle in its V range, based on the V15. Named V12, the production of the motorcycle has already been started and it is expected to reach dealerships in the next couple of months. The motorcycle will have a price tag of Rs 56,200 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The Bajaj V12 will compete in the premium 125cc motorcycle segment. Carrying the ‘V’ badge, the bike will carry forward the patriotic theme by using the metal from the now decomissioned aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The patriotic marketing behind the V15 gained a lot of popularity amongst buyers in the segment that has resulted in a sale of over 2 lakh V15 bikes since its launch in March this year. A success Bajaj hopes to replicate with the V12.
Bajaj has not yet given out much details of the V12 but it will be very similar to the V15 in terms of design and styling. The bike might come with new graphics to differentiate itself from the V15. The main difference will be the 125cc mill. By all possibilities, it will be the same mill that powers the Discover 125 and makes 11PS and 10.8Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Bajaj claims the Discover 125 to return a mileage of 82.4 kmpl so we can expect a similar figure from the V12. Apart from the motor, the V12 should share its cycle parts with the V15. Braking should be similar, featuring the same disc and drum brake setup.
The new Bajaj V12 will be more affordable than the V15 (Rs 62,132 ex-showroom, New Delhi) by close to Rs 6000 and will be seen competing against the likes of the Honda CB Shine, Hero MotoCorp Glamour, Yamaha Saluto and the TVS Phoenix.
