Pune: Maruti Suzuki, on Monday, introduced the fourth-generation Dzire sedan with introductory prices starting from Rs 6.79 lakh for the entry-level variant and going up to Rs 10.14 lakh at the Delhi showroom for the top end.

The Maruti Dzire competes with compact sedans like the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and Honda Amaze, which is also due to get a major update next month.

The company has claimed that the new Dzire is India’s Most fuel-efficient sedan with a fuel economy of 24.79 kmpl in petrol MT and 33.73 km per kg in S-CNG mode.

With over 27 lakh units sold since its inception 16 years ago, the Dzire has surpassed the total sales of the entire sedan segment in India, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD of Maruti Suzuki, said.

The new Dzire comes equipped with standard safety features such as six airbags, an electronic stability program, hill hold assist, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and brake assist.

Additionally, 3-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers for all-around protection, reinforce the all-new Dzire as a safe car.

The Dzire is sold in four trims such as LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. The CNG is available on the mid-spec VXi and ZXi trims. The new Dzire can also be had via Maruti's subscription service for an EMI of Rs 18,248.

The new Dzire is powered by the new Z12E 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This unit produces 81 BHP and 112 Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The new model comes with an idle start/stop system. On CNG, the engine produces 69.75hp and 101.8Nm.

Significantly, the Dzire sports a completely new design philosophy, featuring a large hexagonal grille at the front and LED headlamps on either side. The rear features clear lens taillights with Y-shaped internals.

The new Dzire gets a 2-tone interior. The dashboard has a layered design with faux wood trim and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. The car comes with a 3-spoke steering and a conventional twin-dial instrument cluster. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.

“The new Dzire is loaded with segment-first features making it a perfect blend of modernity and cutting-edge technology,” said Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer, of marketing & sales at Maruti Suzuki.
