Pune: BMW, the German luxury car maker, on Thursday introduced the all-new seventh generation BMW M5 performance sedan priced at Rs 1.99 crore pan India showroom.
“The BMW M5 is the original performance sedan. It’s been considered the sportiest and most dynamic sedan in the world ever since it was launched 40 years ago,” said Vikram Pawah, President and CEO at BMW Group India.
He said the all-new BMW M5 cuts an athletic figure – one that is more expressive than ever before and delivers maximum performance.
Pawah said it comes equipped with the latest technology and BMW M engineering, making it the benchmark in the high-performance sedan segment.
The imported BMW M5 is offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time.
The car uses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with the M Hybrid system for a combined output of 717 BHP and 1000 Nm of torque.
The combustion engine delivers 577 BHP and 750 Nm of torque, while the electric drive system generates a peak output of 194 BHP and 280 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive system.
An 18.6 kWh battery pack provides a pure-electric driving range of up to 69 km. The new sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h when equipped with the M Driver's package. In electric mode, the car can hit a top speed of 140 km/h.
The new sedan sports a more muscular styling with a large but proportional kidney grille up front with an illuminated frame, new LED headlamps with a fresh DRL signature, and sporty bumpers at the front and rear. The car also features sleek LED tail lights, a diffuser, and quad exhausts.
The new M5 features the latest iDrive OS on the infotainment, along with connected tech.
The vehicle also comes with body-hugging sports seats, a 3-spoke steering wheel with customizable red M buttons, a head-up display and adaptive suspension among other features.
