Pune: Kia, the South Korean automaker, on Thursday said it has crossed the vehicle export milestone of 250,000 units.

The Hyundai Creta-rival Kia Seltos, the Tata Nexon-rival Kia Sonet and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-rival Kia Carens are the company's three export models.

Since 2019, Kia has shipped 255,133 units to over 100 markets across the globe from its Anantapur manufacturing facility. These include South Africa, Chile, Paraguay and Latin America.

The Kia Seltos has been the major contributor, accounting for 59 per cent of the company's overall overseas dispatches. The Sonet and the Carens have contributed 34 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively.

India is one of the major export hubs for Kia. However, in recent years, the company has focused more on selling its cars in the domestic market.

The company said that from this year, 90 per cent of the products manufactured in India will be for the domestic market.

“Our dedication to quality and innovation has driven us to this milestone. The success of our made-in-India vehicles internationally shows our commitment to quality. We have quickly become a major market for Kia Corporation and aim to maintain this momentum. While our focus is on the domestic market, we plan to keep our exports steady this year," said Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India.
