Trade bodies welcome Air India Express flight to Singapore

Flights from New Delhi-Coimbatore-Singapore sector, to be operational from November 18.

Air India has a debt burden of more than Rs 50,000 crore and has is also planning to take short term loans worth up to Rs 3,250 crore to meet working capital requirements.

Coimbatore: With Air India Express announcing the introduction of their flights from New Delhi-Coimbatore-Singapore sector, to be operational from November 18, the Kongu Global Forum (KGF), on Thursday said that this will significantly help passengers from seven district of Western Parts of Tamil Nadu.

Besides, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur, Nilgiris, Salem, Erode and Namakkal, the passengers from Palakkad in Kerala would also get connected internationally, KGF, the trade and industry body of seven western districts, Chairman A Shaktivel and Convenor Vanitha Mohan said in a statement here.

KGF has been successful in getting Coimbatore a much needed international connection to Singapore from Air India Express, they said.
