Chennai: In order to attract more sellers on its platform during the festive season, Amazon India has cut the selling fee for new sellers by half.

All new sellers registering on Amazon between August 28 and October 26 and launching sales within 90 days from date of registration shall be eligible for a 50 per cent waiver on their selling fee across all categories.

This is one of the fees that all sellers pay for selling their products on Amazon and is calculated as a percentage of the total sales price that is paid by the buyer.

This waiver is meant to attract local stores, traditional weavers and artisans, women entrepreneurs as well as start-ups and digital entrepreneurs. The government had exempted suppliers on e-commerce having less than Rs 40 lakh turnover from having GST registration. This will encourage small enterprises to board online platforms.

Amazon India has been investing in scaling up infrastructure to enable sellers from anywhere in India to serve customers all over the country.

In December 2021, Amazon had crossed the milestone of 10 lakh sellers and currently it has over 11 lakh sellers.
