Asia's first product leadership institute vows to make India a product leaders' hub
IPL has already produced more than 250 global standard product leaders in the country.
Institute of Product Leadership (IPL), the first B-school in Asia for aspiring product leaders, is setting the platform for India to become a global leader in technology product development. Founded in the year 2012, IPL has already produced more than 250 global standard product leaders in the country. With the vision of creating 10000 product managers in India, IPL has become the driver of India’s transformation journey from an IT support destination to an IT product development hub. The institute offers diverse courses dealing with various facets of product development and innovation along with a curriculum based on new age skills.
With only 60K product managers in the country compared to 1.8 million in the US, India is struggling to cope with the lack of in-house product managers. While there is no dearth of Software Engineers in India, finding a highly skilled Product Manager is extremely difficult. The product leadership ecosystem is still in its nascent phase of development in our country. The deficit of product management skills, the art, and science of delivering delightful solutions to real market problems, is limiting the country’s growth as a technology leader across the globe.
In order to meet India's demand for Product Managers and to enable a new line of homegrown technology leaders, the Institute for Product Leadership (IPL) was founded in 2012. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the silicon valley of India, IPL is Asia's first B-School for technology managers, focusing exclusively on Product Leadership with the aim of transforming technology executives into future product managers and industry leaders. Product managers play an important role in a company's growth, and a recent LinkedIn report revealed that Product Managers are among the top 10 jobs that companies are hiring for in India.
"Back in 2011, my quest of hiring product managers from India for McAfee turned out to be a wild goose chase. It was nothing short of an epiphany that there is a severe crunch of Product Managers in India. In a way, the visit laid the foundation for IPL - a global technology leadership school for aspiring product leaders," said Pinkesh Shah, Co-founder and Director of Programs, IPL.
IPL was born in conjunction with the Executive Product Industry Council (EPIC), a group of elite product leaders who currently drive product innovation from India in global companies. IPL offers programs that enable technology leaders to graduate from being code-centric to customer-centric and also help the engineering centers in Asia nurture the next generation of product leaders. The institution has produced 1800+ technology product innovators across 220+ companies since its inception. IPL's flagship course offerings include Executive MBA in Product Leadership (EMBA), Executive Post Graduate Program in Management (EPGPM), Product Management Certification Program (ICPM) and Global Certification Workshops.
