Mukesh Ambani launches Jio Prime
Jio users consumed more than 100 crore GB of data on the Jio network which amounts to more than 3.3 crore GB a day.
Mumbai: Unveiling its new tariff plan, Reliance Jio, the telecomunication arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) on Tuesday said its existing customers can continue to use unlimited data and voice service for another one year by paying Rs 303 per month starting April 1, 2017.The special offer – Jio prime membership programme is applicable to its existing customers as well as to those who sign up before March 31, 2017 and will be valid till March 31, 2018.
“Before Jio, India was 150th in the world in broadband penetration. But, last month, just 5 months after Jio’s launch, Jio users consumed more than 100 crore GB of data on the Jio network which amounts to more than 3.3 crore GB a day. India is now the number one country in the world for mobile data usage.
“Jio users consume nearly as much mobile data as the entire United States of America and nearly 50 per cent more mobile data than all of China,” said Mukesh Ambani, chairman, RIL.
In order to remove confusion about which plan to choose among the several tariff plans launched by various telecom operators in recent months, Mr Ambani said his company would not only match the highest selling tariffs of each of the other leading Indian telecom operators, but would also provide 20 per cent more data in each of these plans
