Mother Dairy targets Rs 10,000 crore turnover in two years
Out of Rs 10,000 crore target, the company was expecting to mop up Rs 6500 crore from milk, Rs 1500 crore from dairy products.
Kolkata: Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Limited, which markets milk, milk products, edible oils, fruits and vegetables primarily in the NCR, is targetting a turnover of Rs 10,000 crore in the next two years.
"Our expected turnover for the year ending March 2017 is Rs 8000 crore. In the next two years, the turnover will be around Rs 10,000 crore", the company's MD S Nagarajan said. He said that after NCR, the company is targetting areas of the west and east for milk and vegetable procurement.
The company has already started milk procurement in the states of Maharashtra in the west and Bihar in the east. Launching the 'Dailycious' milk brand in the city today, he said that the name Mother Dairy could not be used as it was being used by another dairy in the state.
Initially, the sales volumes would be low, he said, adding that the mail processing capacity at the Howrah unit was one lakh litres per day. Besides milk, the company also plans to procure pointed gourd (parwal) and potato from West Bengal.
Another 100 exclusive convenient stores would be opened in the city. About east, he said that the Dhara edible oil brand was cornering around 40 per cent of the market share in the east.
Out of Rs 10,000 crore target, the company was expecting to mop up Rs 6500 crore from milk, Rs 1500 crore from dairy products, Rs 1400 crore from edible oil and the balance from vegetables, he said. Mother Dairy was also contemplating to start production of low calorie milk products in future, he said.
